Tear-Free Goodbye On First Day of School
Updated: Oct 18, 2019
School holiday will soon be over and it is time for children to go back to school. For children who are just starting their first day at school, this is a new experience for them to separate from their families and enter a new environment that will become their daily routine.
Here are some pointers that can help ease separation for children.
Help your child to get to know the new environment.
Come early to school and spend time in children's class on the first day. Introduce the children with the teacher and other students, show the bathroom and other school area.
Respond to your child's anxiety.
If your child becomes very anxious, don't scold or ridicule. You should remain calm and remind your child that you will return to pick him up at the end of school hours. Remind your child that he will learn interesting new things and play with new friends.
Cheerfully say goodbye to your child.
Say goodbye with cheerful expression and briefly. Don't get out of the room sneaking.
